Attracting Clients Requires Action

I had an agent the other day who said to me, “It doesn’t sound like you have an active program. You just wait for clients to call you.” They seemed to think this program was for lazy people…

I had to laugh at this but I also got a little frustrated thinking that people believe I don’t work hard to get these clients to call me. Attract is an action verb. I have to do things to ATTRACT dream clients. There’s a lot of things that go on behind the scenes in defining who those dream clients are and focusing on specific niches within my market.

I need to be perceived as an authority and an expert and that certainly doesn’t happen by just sitting around. But some people still seem to think that because I don’t do outbound soliciting and cold calling I’m not really doing anything, or I’m not working hard. They’re wrong. Very, very wrong.

In order for you to be perceived as an authority and expert, in order for people to trust you, you need to be doing ACTIONABLE things that create authority and credibility in the mind and eyes of your prospective clients.

You need to identify who the luminaries and influencers are in your community and your market and figure out how you can align yourself with them. You need to get out there in your community and communicate effectively with those people and then serve your community.

You need to prepare market reports and property valuation reports so that you can show your clients how knowledge you are about your market. You need to be doing actionable things that bring good value to your reputation so that people can see you are an active real estate agent and active member of your community.

Attracting affluent clients is NOT EASY and it takes more effort than just sitting around and waiting for them to come to you…
