I wrestled in high school and I think this helped generate a lot of skills that I repeated throughout my career and my life. One of those skills was to find out what moves work and then practice them over and over and over and over until I was proficient at them. And the other skill I learned was to always be learning something new, otherwise you become stagnant and never progress.
I use these skills regularly in my real estate business. The first skill of repetition is what I use for all of those things we have to do every single time for every buyer and seller. I have repeated these actions so many times that I have now perfected them and turned them into repeatable systems that I can reuse. I save so much time because I don’t have to figure out what I’m trying to do for every new client. I have a clear plan that I can follow that I know will be successful.
Now you might be wondering, “This sounds great but where do you learn these new systems and all of these things that you use and apply in your business?” This is where that second skill comes in! I am always learning.
So many real estate agents think that because they’ve made it to the top, they’ve got it all figured out so they don’t need to learn anything new. They’re wrong. You need to be a student of the game.
I go the extra mile and I go to conferences like Social Media Marketing World in San Diego. There’s not a lot of real estate agents there… It’s a lot of tech nerds but I’m still learning really valuable things! I go to the Colorado Association Realtors Conference, the National Association Realtors Conference, the worldwide event for Coldwell Banker.
You are never done learning, especially because the world around is always changing so you need to learn new skills so you can continue to adapt. But when you find something that works you need to perfect it!
The combination of these two skills is what has helped me become such a successful real estate agent and I believe the same will be true for you!
