You never know who’s watching you do your job or hearing how you interact with clients. So you should always do the best job you can with integrity and ethics!
A few years ago I represented a seller on a multi-million dollar luxury home. The transaction ended up being a little complicated so I was assisting the buyer’s agent with some things.
I wanted everything to go smoothly for my client and to serve them at the highest level to ensure that the transaction would close! In that process I ended up interacting with the buyers because I was dealing with the buyer’s agent.
Then about a year ago I got a call from that buyer saying they were curious about the market and asking ME what I thought their home was worth. I sent them a property valuation report and my market report but they made it clear that they weren’t quite making the decision to sell yet. They were simply curious in what information I could provide them.
BUT I got a call today saying they were now interested in understanding what the timing might be to put their home on the market.
They had had some health and financial issues and so being second home owners with a large, luxury home wasn’t making sense and they wanted to make a change.
Now, again, I will emphasize ETHICS and INTEGRITY here. I was NEVER trying to attract that client away from the other agent. I simply facilitated that transaction several years back.
However, that level of service I was providing stood out to them! They remembered me for going above and beyond not only for my client, but also indirectly for them.
So you never know who’s watching!
It’s not hard to wake up every day and treat people with ethics and integrity because you never know who you might be dealing with!
