I just wanted to start out by saying Happy Easter and Passover! Although it snowed last Sunday here in Colorado, I still enjoyed the wonderful spring day by going Nordic skiing with my wife and zooming an Easter service in the morning. I hope you did something exciting as well, whether that was doing something with your family or enjoying the weather!

Some people are predicting that our education system as well as, universities across the country are going to move more toward online learning programs. This is something we have already experienced with businesses, but it will be even more prominent given the current circumstances. People throughout the world are heavily relying on their social networks and apps to shop, stream, surf the web, or find means of entertainment. A fundamental aspect of building your digital presence as we enter the peak effects of this virus during this time, is that you leverage online communication, while consumers are connected online at an all time high.

It’s crucial for you as a real estate agent to be online. This feeds into the fact that as real estate agents, we are serving the general public, so it’s beneficial and ultimately, more convenient for your clients to find you online. I stress this not because it’s my opinion, but because that’s simply where our clients populate and that’s where they’re focusing their time. Google yourself to see what potential clients may find and how you are perceived in the digital space.

I have a funny story that will reinforce this logic about having an online profile and presence. Whenever I get together with my daughters, we usually create a plan to go to dinner, a movie or something fun to do in the city. Before I can suggest a restaurant that we are walking by or one that happens to be driving distance, the phones come out and they’re all looking online for a place that has an inviting ambiance, decent yelp reviews, a menu that looks good, and so on. I jokingly express to them how “you wouldn’t ever risk a meal without going online,” but it’s true for the majority of us in different ways. For instance, would you rent a movie on Amazon prime without watching the trailer first? I know that I always try to find the preview before I make the decision to invest two and a half hours to watch that movie.

Our clients, our prospective clients, and the general public are doing the same thing. They’re doing it right now. They’ll be doing it tomorrow and they’re doing it in an increasing fashion. When potential clients are searching for the best agent in their area, we’re going to need to be showing up with blog posts, available listings, and relevant content that attracts them to click on your website. This is a great opportunity to pivot, change, and create some impact because you want to be seen as a trusted authority in your market!

If people are searching for homes, real estate agents, and are looking at the market information about your communities and the target markets that you’re serving, then being online and ultimately, being seen as that trusted authority is really more important than ever.
